Job description

The position holder will be responsible for facilitating and coordinating the management of medical specialty or departments. Key responsibilities include facilitating planning and development of clinical services, coordination in operational processes of the specialty/departments and areas assigned; and implementation of strategies and services with Clinical leads and/or HODs. The position holder is specifically responsible for Dialysis Centre, Inpatient and Outpatient Peritoneal Dialysis services under Renal/Nephrology Departments.

Additionally, the position holder double-hats as Renal Coordinator/ Case Management Officer and is responsible for the administration of the renal programme, provide renal counselling and case management for early and advanced chronic kidney diseases (CKD) patients, coordinate the administrative and clinical care for renal patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting.

You will be responsible for the following:

1. Ensure department’s operational readiness

  • Ensure adequate resources are provided for clinical services to perform to the expectations of patients and in alignment with Hospital’s business and financial objectives.
  • Establish and update SOPs, downtime protocols and workflows in all areas of work related to renal services
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational, IT and administrative errors or issues
  • Ensure department work with relevant stakeholders to manage customers’ feedback timely
  • Prepare and participate in MACG’s pre-MOH inspection and MOH inspections/audits.
  • Drive annual workplan and budgetary planning with multi-disciplinary team

2. Identify opportunities to implement or facilitate strategies with Clinical Services Director and Clinical Leads to achieve mission of the Hospital

  • To drive and lead discussions, open communications and teamwork across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Provide guidance and directions in management, planning, coordinating and executing strategies and workplans.
  • Timely and successful implementation of new services/workflows and improvement initiatives in department.
  • Participate in discussions and campus planning for new Integrated General Hospital (IGH) campus

3. Administration of relevant renal programmes and initiatives

  • Provide renal counselling and case management for early and advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients
  • Coordinate with MSWs to facilitate subsidy application for patients who need financial assistance
  • Facilitate interim haemodialysis (HD) placement at external Dialysis Centre (DC) by working with external DC, patients/caregivers and MSWs
  • Oversee Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) claims for newly initiated PD patients.

4. Staff Management

  • To orientate and induct new staff in department
  • Facilitate staff in developing relevant skillsets and competencies; and maximize their potential in their respective area of work
  • To keep competency checklist updated

5. Perform any other ad-hoc duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time

Requirements
