Job summary

Job description
Job Responsibilities
  • Handle telephone enquiries and walk-in customers, and liaise with clients, intermediaries, surveyors/adjusters, handling agents, overseas principals, and the Companies.

  • Manage correspondence and attend client or intermediary meetings when required.

  • Upon receiving claims notifications, gather relevant customer information, arrange surveys, and coordinate with settling agents when necessary.

  • Create claim files and checklists, and verify policy, reinsurance, and treaty arrangements before confirming underwriting acceptance with the Companies.

  • Send acknowledgment letters and request necessary claims documentation from clients or intermediaries.

  • Prepare and issue PLA/Cash-Call advice and follow up with reinsurers on payment status.

  • Draft LLA/MLR for approval, ensuring reserves are updated promptly and accurately.

  • Monitor and manage diary dates for active files, ensuring proper follow-ups before archiving.

  • Verify premium payments prior to processing claims and coordinate with the Finance team on any payment delays.

  • Refer claims with strong recovery potential to Claims Recovery Agents and actively follow up on recovery progress.

  • Maintain records of exceptional claims (e.g., ex-gratia cases, large losses) and related recoveries.

  • Review claims that exceed authority limits and escape to the Head of Department or Senior Management for approval before notifying customers or settling agents.

  • Conduct periodic file reviews and prepare monthly or quarterly statistics when required.

  • Participate in UAT for the Marine Claims module.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Job Requirements
  • Diploma or Degree in Insurance, Maritime Studies, or a related discipline.

  • PreferablyACII/AAII, CGI, or other relevant insurance qualifications.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Relevant experience in claims handling will be an advantage.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Able to manage multiple tasks, collaborate effectively as a team member, demonstrate diligence, maintain customer focus, and show willingness to learn new skills
