DESIGNATION: Assistant Director (Community and Youth Mental Health Services)
Responsibilities
- Main purpose / objectives: The Assistant Director, Community and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Services is responsible for overseeing and managing the delivery of community services and youth mental health programmes. Provide professional and operational oversight for clinical and social work components in CYMH.
- Supervise the Manager, Youth Development Centre (YDC) to ensure smooth planning and implementation of programmes for youths at the drop-in centre, child access services and youth mental health programmes. Guide staff and pivot the YDC from its current focus to professionally grounded youth mental health and develop activities and programmes from scratch. Provide supervision to develop and implement youth mental health programmes that reach a broad spectrum of youths, build resilience, and support coping skills. Supervise the team to provide case management and basic level counselling/triage for low to moderate youth mental health concerns. Ensure funders\' KPIs and obligations are met.
- Supervise the Manager, Kids in Play (KIP) to ensure strategic planning and strong professional oversight to maintain KIP as a clinically sound service provider and to grow KIP\'s social work and clinical practice. Engage with government agencies (e.g., Prisons, NCSS) to build collaboration, secure sustained financial support, and ensure appropriate assessment tools with NCSS and other partners.
- Collaborate with ED/CYG and AM/Corp and Prog Development to grow funding for community services, especially youth mental health.
- Provide practice leadership and supervision for social workers in CYG as needed.
- Other duties as required by TSA or CYG.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the delivery of community services and youth mental health programmes.
- Provide professional oversight for clinical and social work components in CYMH and KIP.
- Supervise the Manager, Youth Development Centre; guide pivot to youth mental health; develop programmes to reach diverse youths; ensure funding KPIs are met.
- Supervise the Manager, Kids in Play (KIP); maintain strong standing in the corrections landscape and foster collaboration with Prisons and NCSS to secure ongoing funding.
- Maintain relationships with Prisons authorities; ensure consistent development of KIP services.
- Work with partners (e.g., MER in HQ, NCSS Research) to ensure fair evaluations; drive growth of youth mental health services; coordinate with senior leadership to secure sustainability.
- Provide supervision for social workers in CYG as needed.
- Any other duties as required by TSA or CYG.

- Funder\'s KPIs and Obligations: Meet reporting and funding requirements.
- Staff Supervision and Development: Conduct performance appraisals and professional development.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Maintain relations with Prisons and ensure ongoing funding for KIP.
- Programme Implementation and Pivoting: Lead YDC pivot to youth mental health with effective planning and execution.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure licensing standards and transparent work processes.
- Funding: Ensure funding for sustainability and growth of youth mental health services.
Qualifications
- A degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
- Strong clinical and professional record in social work or clinical work, especially with families, children and youth and/or mental health.
- Leadership abilities and capacity to grow capability in others.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Other Information
Working hours: 10 am to 7 pm, Monday to Friday (1 hour lunch).
Flexibility required due to field outreach and service needs.
