Applied Research Scientist (Multimodal Foundational Models)
Here at Ailytics, we’re building AI solutions to envision a safer world. By combining computer vision and predictive analytics, we enable organizations to proactively identify risks, optimize processes, and ultimately save lives. Our platforms are currently deployed all over the world, covering more than 300 million square meters!
As an Applied Research Scientist, you’ll push our boundaries and expand what we’re capable of. Your role will extend beyond mere research and optimizations, it’ll involve the full spectrum of the research lifecycle, with a focus on ensuring practical feasibility.
This is not a junior/entry level role; we are looking for a seasoned candidate that would be able to lead both initiatives and a team.
This opening can be for our office in Singapore, Hong Kong, or remote for the right person.
What You Will Be Doing
- Conduct applied research on Large Language Models (LLMs), Large Vision Models (LVMs), and multimodal foundation models.
- Design, prototype, and evaluate algorithms for vision-language understanding, cross-modal reasoning, and zero/few-shot learning.
- Benchmark models on internal and public datasets to measure accuracy, robustness, and generalization.
- Translate research insights into deployable, production-grade systems.
- Optimize large models through distillation, quantization, pruning, and other efficiency techniques.
- Develop scalable training and evaluation pipelines for large foundation models.
- Stay up to date with emerging research in multimodal and generative AI and rapidly experiment with new ideas.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate research breakthroughs into real-world AI products.
- Mentor junior researchers/engineers and contribute to long-term research strategy.
Our Ideal Requirements
- PhD or Masters in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields, emphasizing the theoretical foundation and research methodologies.
- Minimally 3 years of working experience with foundational models and/or experience delivering products using these
- Strong foundation in algorithms (DSA), linear algebra, and statistical models.
- A proven track record of publishing research at top computer vision or machine learning conferences (e.g., CVPR, NeurIPS, ICCV, ECCV) would be a big bonus.
- Ability to prototype concepts rapidly and evaluate them for potential product integration.
- Proficient in Python and in using deep learning frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow.
- Hands-on experience in optimizing deep learning models through techniques such as quantization, pruning, and converting model formats, including ONNX and TensorRT.
- Demonstrated expertise in conceptualizing, developing, and refining computer vision pipelines, with a focus on novel algorithmic approaches.
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
- Excellent communication abilities and ability to articulate research findings and technical challenges to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
