The pharmacist reviews and verifies prescriptions, ensuring correct dosages and identifying potential risks.
Your key responsibilities are:
- Review each patient’s medication chart or prescription for the appropriateness of the drugs prescribed and contact the prescribing doctor when intervention is needed. Ensure all orders are clear, specific doses are within therapeutic limits, and potential adverse reactions and interactions are identified.
- Fulfill all drug orders accurately and promptly.
- Check and verify prescriptions, dispense prescribed drugs, and provide counselling.
- Provide drug information services to medical staff.
- Prepare extemporaneous products as prescribed.
- Maintain proper inventory records for all drugs, conduct stock checks, and replenish stock as necessary.
- Supervise the work of Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians.
- Liaise with external doctors and Hospital-based Resident Medical Officers as needed.
- Perform additional duties as requested by the Senior Pharmacist or Pharmacy Manager.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements in the sale and supply of medicinal products, maintaining records of drug receipt, supply, storage, and distribution.
