Role Context
The Senior Architect will take architectural responsibility from early design concepts through detailed technical development and construction coordination. Working within a multidisciplinary infrastructure environment, the role will ensure architectural solutions remain functional, buildable, code-compliant, and properly integrated with structural, civil, MEP, transportation, and other specialist systems. The position also serves as an important technical interface with clients, approving authorities, consultants, contractors, and project delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead architectural conceptualization, design development, detailing, and technical coordination for major infrastructure assets.
- Translate project requirements into coordinated architectural solutions that balance functionality, constructability, aesthetics, operations, and lifecycle considerations.
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, schedules, calculations, and supporting design documentation.
- Coordinate architectural packages with civil, structural, MEP, transportation, systems, and other engineering disciplines.
- Identify interdisciplinary design conflicts and drive technical resolution before they affect construction activities.
- Evaluate design development against approved project criteria, applicable codes, operational requirements, and industry standards.
- Coordinate with Saudi Arabian authorities and other relevant agencies regarding design approvals and No Objection Certificates.
- Incorporate authority comments and regulatory requirements into controlled design revisions.
- Prepare technical reports, design narratives, presentations, and architectural justifications for clients and approving stakeholders.
- Review consultant design submissions for technical quality, completeness, consistency, and compliance.
- Examine contractor shop drawings, material submissions, technical proposals, and other architectural deliverables.
- Resolve construction-stage architectural queries and site-related design issues within required project timelines.
- Assess proposed technical solutions for compatibility with the approved architectural design intent.
- Support constructability reviews and ensure architectural details can be executed effectively in the field.
- Prepare resource requirements, staffing estimates, and architectural inputs to project execution plans.
- Monitor architectural deliverables against program milestones and coordinate corrective action where necessary.
- Provide architectural seal and professional signature when required by applicable legislation or contractual provisions.
- Maintain compliance with relevant building codes, architectural standards, accessibility requirements, and project specifications.
- Supervise architects and CAD operators while establishing appropriate standards for drawings and technical documentation.
- Mentor team members through design reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, project managers, engineering leads, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Support design review meetings and clearly communicate architectural decisions, constraints, and required actions.
- Maintain organized and traceable architectural documentation throughout design and delivery.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor 's degree in Architecture from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 15 years of post-graduate professional architectural experience.
- Membership or registration with an internationally recognized architectural professional body.
- Extensive knowledge of architectural design principles, detailing, construction practices, codes, and regulations.
- Previous experience with rail or metro developments is highly desirable.
- Strong exposure to major transportation, infrastructure, or similarly complex multidisciplinary projects.
- Demonstrated capability leading architectural design from concept through detailed development and construction support.
- Experience coordinating architecture with structural, civil, MEP, transportation, and specialist engineering disciplines.
- Strong understanding of constructability and contractor design review processes.
- Experience dealing with authorities, statutory approvals, permits, and NOCs is valuable.
- Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD platforms and relevant architectural design applications.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications for reporting and presentations.
- Able to review complex design information and make technically defensible decisions.
- Proven ability to manage relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, authorities, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Previous responsibility for supervising architects and CAD personnel is expected.
- Postgraduate qualification in Architecture or a related discipline is advantageous.
