Job summary

Empresa Confidencial is seeking a seasoned Process Engineer to be based in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. The role covers process engineering across multiple projects, ensuring consistency, quality and technical excellence in the portfolio.

The candidate will lead process design, perform simulations, and interface with Clients and regulatory authorities as needed. Senior professional with extensive experience in upstream and downstream facilities is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering (required).
• IQAMA required for Saudi Arabia employment.
• Minimum 8 years of professional Oil & Gas, hydrocarbons or power project experience.
• Registered with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
• SCE Professional Grade: Professional.

Responsibilities

• Define process engineering criteria, design philosophies and techniques for upstream and downstream facilities.
• Execute and review key process deliverables during Concept, FEED and Basic Design phases.
• Prepare and review Detailed Design deliverables for large EPC projects.
• Develop, review and validate process simulations and models (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, gPROMS, Petro-SIM).
• Lead the creation and review of PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances and process datasheets.
• Support design of upstream facilities (wellhead, separation, gas treating, compression, produced water handling).
• Support design of downstream facilities (refining, gas processing, stabilization, offsite systems).
• Perform and review process studies including optimization, hydraulics, relief and flare, operability assessments.
• Assist project teams in solving technical issues and managing deviations.
• Act as the process technical interface with Clients, licensors and regulators if required.
• Participate in technical reviews, workshops, HAZID/HAZOP and high-level technical presentations.
• Support Project Management in risk assessment and decision making.
• If required, act as the process engineering discipline lead on assigned projects.

Oil & Gas Division is seeking a Process Engineer to be based at our office in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.

This position covers process engineering, providing support across multiple projects and ensuring consistency, quality, and technical excellence throughout the project portfolio.

The role requires a senior professional with strong expertise in process design for upstream and downstream facilities, extensive experience using process simulation tools, and the ability to lead teams, interface with Clients, and safeguard the technical integrity of process design solutions.

Purpose of the role and main responsibilities:

• Define process engineering criteria, design philosophies, and technical approaches for upstream and downstream facilities.
• Execute and review key process deliverables during Concept, FEED, and Basic Design phases.
• Execute, review and validate Detailed Design deliverables for large-scale EPC projects.
• Develop, review, and validate process simulations and models using industry-standard tools (e.g. Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, gPROMS, Petro-SIM or equivalent).
• Lead the preparation and review of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), heat and material balances, and process datasheets.
• Support the design of upstream facilities (including wellhead facilities, separation, gas treating, compression, and produced water handling).
• Support the design of downstream facilities (including refining processes, gas processing, stabilization, and related offsite systems).
• Perform and review key process studies, including process optimization, hydraulic calculations, relief and flare studies, and operability assessments.
• Support project teams in resolving complex technical issues and managing process-related design deviations.
• Act as the primary process technical interface with Clients, licensors, and regulatory authorities, if required.
• Participate in technical reviews, workshops, HAZID/HAZOP sessions, and high-level technical presentations.
• Support Project Management in technical risk assessment and decision-making processes.
• If required, act as the process engineering discipline lead across assigned projects.

Main requirements for the role:

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering.
• IQAMA needed.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in Oil & Gas, hydrocarbons, or power projects.
• Registered with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
• SCE Professional Grade: Professional.
• Proven experience as a process designer on upstream and downstream facilities
• Strong hands-on experience with process simulation tools, such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, gPROMS, Petro-SIM, or similar.
• Previous experience on engineering consultancy. Desirable experience with large EPC projects.
• Advanced knowledge of process engineering fundamentals, including separation processes, thermodynamics, fluid flow, and heat transfer
• Strong command of international standards and guidelines: API, ASME, ISO, IEC, and relevant industry recommended practices
• Experience in preparing and reviewing process studies, including relief systems, flare systems, and dynamic simulations (where applicable)
• Familiarity with Saudi Arabian standards, including SAES and local regulatory requirements.
• Strong networking skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all project levels
• Availability for short business trips within the GCC
• Fluency in English is mandatory.
