About the job
Business Line: AMEA
Reporting to: Site Manager
Primary Location: Project Site – KSA KHUSAIBAH
Employee Status: Project basis
Schedule: Full Time
Key activities and competencies
For the construction of the BESS project in the region, ENGIE is seeking a Planning Engineer to manage and coordinate all aspects of project scheduling, progress measurement, and planning control. The Planning Engineer will play a key role in monitoring progress, identifying delays or risks, and supporting decision-making to ensure the project is delivered on time and within scope.
- Establish and manage the project planning control system and progress measurement methodology.
- In conjunction with the information provided by the BOP Contractor and BESS OEM, prepare, analyse, and evaluate project schedules and planning data to support construction execution and reporting.
- Monitor deviations from the baseline schedule and perform analysis of slippage in coordination with Package Managers.
- Develop and maintain an independent “shadow” implementation schedule as a reference for the Owner to verify the credibility, logic, sequencing, and achievability of the BOP Contractor’s and BESS OEM’s schedules.
- Raise alerts to Construction Managers for any schedule variances, critical path impacts, or risks affecting project timelines.
- Develop, communicate, and implement planning procedures to ensure effective scheduling and progress tracking.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of schedule milestones and reporting formats.
- Provide planning inputs for progress reviews, internal reports, and stakeholder presentations.
- Maintain a structured documentation system for project planning records and deliverables.
- Support the integration of contractor schedules into the overall master schedule.
- Collaborate with the Project Controls team to align schedule, cost, change, and risk management frameworks.
- Interface with the BOP Contractor and BESS OEM to collect, validate, and update schedule inputs in alignment with project milestones.
- Track procurement, manufacturing, delivery, and installation schedules of key BESS equipment and other critical project materials to ensure alignment with construction sequences.
- Participate in weekly and monthly progress meetings to present schedule updates and highlight critical path, variance, and risk areas.
- Contribute to the preparation of recovery plans in case of delays and assist in the implementation of corrective actions. Challenge the BOP Contractor’s and BESS OEM’s recovery plans based on the accuracy of the information, proposed resources, sequencing, and achievability of the plans.
- Support Contract Management by providing time-related inputs for claims, variations, and extension of time assessments.
- Ensure planning activities comply with HSE requirements and integrate safety milestones, access constraints, permits, and other safety-related constraints into the schedule.
- Monitor and assess the impact of BESS OEM and BOP Contractor interface activities on the overall project schedule, ensuring that interface risks and dependencies are properly reflected and managed.
- Verify reported contractor progress against actual physical progress and supporting evidence to ensure that schedule updates and progress reporting accurately reflect the true status of project execution.
- Monitor the BESS OEM’s key contractual schedule commitments, including equipment manufacturing, FAT, shipment, delivery, installation, testing, commissioning, and performance testing milestones.
- Perform schedule trend analysis and provide forward-looking forecasts of project completion dates, including early identification of potential impacts to COD and other contractual milestones.
- Maintain contemporaneous schedule records and supporting evidence required to substantiate delay analysis, mitigation measures, contractor performance assessments, and contractual claims.
