Job summary

Vanderlande in KSA is seeking a Sr. Planning Engineer to lead detailed project scheduling for large-scale infrastructure projects.

You will supervise planning activities across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Commissioning, driving schedule quality, risk mitigation, and performance reporting. The role requires a 10+ year track record in planning and project controls, strong Primavera P6 mastery, and excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, electrical, construction engineering, or related discipline.
• 10+ years of planning and project controls experience in large-scale infrastructure.
• Advanced Primavera P6 and Excel; Power BI a plus.
• Strong baseline scheduling, resource planning, critical path, delay analysis, and EOT prep.
• Experience with management reports, dashboards, S-curves, histograms, and presentations.
• Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven mentorship of junior planning team members in multicultural environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 with milestones and critical path.
• Coordinate schedules with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Commissioning teams.
• Monitor progress and update schedules weekly and monthly.
• Prepare progress reports, dashboards, S-curves, histograms, earned value analysis.
• Identify schedule risks and mitigation plans.
• Review subcontractor schedules and monitor performance.
• Analyze delays and support EOT and delay analysis.
• Support tender planning with bid schedules.
• Present schedule performance and corrective actions in project reviews.
• Mentor Planning Engineers and promote planning standards.

What are my responsibilities?

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, including WBS, milestones, baseline schedules, and critical path analysis.
• Coordinate schedules with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Commissioning teams.
• Monitor project progress and update schedules on a weekly and monthly basis.
• Prepare progress reports, dashboards, S-curves, histograms, earned value analysis, and look-ahead schedules.
• Identify schedule risks, delays, and slippages, and recommend mitigation, recovery, and acceleration plans.
• Review subcontractor schedules and monitor performance against approved programmes.
• Analyze delays and disruptions and support Extension of Time (EOT) and delay analysis requirements.
• Support tender planning by preparing bid schedules and resource-loaded programmes.
• Present schedule performance, risks, and corrective actions during project review meetings.
• Mentor Planning Engineers and Coordinators and review their planning deliverables for accuracy and quality.
• Promote consistent planning standards, reporting methods, and continuous improvement across projects.

What do I need to qualify for the role?

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10 + years of experience in planning and project controls, preferably in large-scale infrastructure, EPC, airport, BHS, or MHS projects.
• Advanced expertise in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Microsoft Project and Power BI is preferred.
• Strong experience in baseline scheduling, resource planning, critical path analysis, delay analysis, EOT preparation, and schedule optimization.
• Experience preparing management reports, dashboards, S-curves, histograms, and project presentations.
• Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to mentor junior planning team members and work effectively in multicultural, multidisciplinary environments.
