Job summary

ENGIE AMEA is leading a major BESS project in KSA. We seek a senior contracts professional to manage end-to-end contract administration, risk management, and stakeholder coordination for a 500MW/2000MWh battery energy storage project.

You will work within a multinational team at KHUSHAYBI, reporting to the Project CEO/EMD on contractual governance and performance. Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in construction contract management, CCCM or equivalent certification, and strong English.

Qualifications

• University degree in a relevant field; professional certification such as CCCM preferred.
• Minimum 10 years in contract management within construction, preferably power plants or large-scale infra projects.
• Experience managing international industrial projects, including on-site work.
• Strong English language skills; Arabic desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Oversee contract management aligned with BESS OEM Agreement, BOP Contract, SSA and project requirements.
• Develop plans and systems for contract administration, governance, documentation and reporting.
• Ensure teams understand contractual obligations, milestones, interfaces, risks and impacts.
• Manage OEM contractual obligations including equipment supply, testing, warranties and variations.
• Monitor performance against KPIs, milestones, and ensure timely escalation of deviations.
• Negotiate with BOP Contractor and OEM within delegated authority; ensure SSA compliance.
• Maintain contractual notices, changes, extensions, claims and documentation within timeframes.
• Review contracts to identify risks, gaps and opportunities; propose mitigation actions.
• Support claims management and ensure proper substantiation and resolution.
• Promote SHEQ and sustainability requirements within contract management processes.
• Maintain auditable contractual records, correspondence and evidence.

Key activities and competencies

• Ensure all contract management and administration activities are aligned with the BESS OEM Agreement, BOP Contract, SSA, project requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement effective plans, procedures, and systems for contract administration, compliance, contractual governance, documentation, and reporting.
• Ensure the Project Management and technical teams are fully aware of their contractual obligations, deliverables, milestones, interfaces, risks, and contractual impacts.
• Manage and enforce the BESS OEM’s contractual obligations, including equipment supply, deliverables, milestones, technical requirements, testing, commissioning, performance guarantees, warranties, and other contractual commitments.
• Monitor the BESS OEM’s performance against agreed KPIs, milestones, deliverables, contractual commitments, performance guarantees, and project schedule, ensuring early identification and escalation of deviations.
• Manage contractual interfaces between the BESS OEM and BOP Contractor, ensuring clear allocation of responsibilities and timely resolution of interface issues that may affect cost, schedule, performance, or project delivery.
• Negotiate directly with the BOP Contractor and BESS OEM, within delegated authority, to resolve contractual issues and ensure compliance with the relevant contract terms and SSA requirements.
• Manage all contractual events, including notifications, notices, changes, variations, extensions of time, claims, contractual communications, instructions, approvals, and associated documentation, ensuring compliance with contractual timeframes.
• Review and analyse contractual documents to identify risks, opportunities, gaps, ambiguities, and potential impacts on project cost, schedule, performance, and delivery.
• Develop and implement contract risk management strategies to mitigate contractual and commercial risks and protect the Project Company’s contractual rights and entitlements.
• Advise the Project Management team on the contractual implications of proposed changes, technical decisions, delays, interface issues, and project instructions.
• Ensure that contractual changes resulting from change requests are properly assessed, negotiated, documented, approved, and incorporated into the relevant contract.
• Monitor and support claims management involving the BESS OEM, BOP Contractor, ENGIE/offtaker, and other relevant project parties, ensuring claims are properly notified, substantiated, assessed, negotiated, and resolved.
• Monitor and enforce, where applicable, the contractual provisions relating to liquidated damages, performance guarantees, warranties, defects, delay, non-performance, and other contractual remedies.
• Ensure the timely arrangement, administration, monitoring, renewal, and enforcement of project bonds, guarantees, warranties, parent company guarantees, and insurances in accordance with contractual requirements.
• Maintain effective monitoring and reporting systems for contract compliance, contractual obligations, milestones, deliverables, claims, variations, risks, opportunities, and performance.
• Ensure all contractual notices, responses, approvals, and other formal communications are prepared and issued within the required contractual timeframes, with appropriate supporting records.
• Maintain comprehensive and auditable contractual records, correspondence, notices, instructions, approvals, meeting records, and supporting evidence.
• Monitor contractual interfaces and dependencies between the SSA, BESS OEM Agreement, BOP Contract, and other project agreements to identify potential gaps in responsibility, conflicting obligations, or exposure to the Project Company.
• Promote compliance with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) procedures and requirements within contract management and contractor administration activities.
• Promote and integrate sustainability requirements within contract management and contractor performance monitoring processes.
• Support the development and implementation of appropriate mitigation and response plans for contractual events that may impact project cost, schedule, performance, or delivery.
• Ensure contract management activities and key contractual obligations are properly planned, tracked, and scheduled without adversely affecting project objectives or critical milestones.
• Proactively identify contractual issues and potential disputes and work with the Project Management and relevant stakeholders to resolve issues before they develop into claims or disputes.
• Support the collection, documentation, and sharing of Return of Experience (REX) and Lessons Learned, incorporating relevant findings into ongoing contract management practices.
• Demonstrate strong contractual, commercial, negotiation, risk management, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving competencies, with the ability to manage multiple contractual interfaces within a complex BESS project environment.

Decision Making:

• Act independently to prioritize, initiate, resolve, and complete contract management actions.
• Seek, organize, and exchange information for decision making and problem solving in contract management.
• Provide CFO with contract performance reports and recommendations for modifications.
• .Assist and advise in the implementation of improvement and mitigation actions following incident investigations.

• Coordinate and control relations with the Owner, Off-Taker, Govt. Authorities, Contractors, and other stakeholders.

• Build and maintain positive relationships with the local community and other external stakeholders.
• Liaise with the Project Company CEO, Construction Director, the Owners Engineer, and the legal team to review and provide inputs to critical contractual correspondences.

Required Qualifications

Qualifications:

• University Degree in Business Administration, Law, Engineering, or a related field.
• Relevant contract management certification (e.g., Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM)).

Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in contract management in a construction environment, preferably in power plants or large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in management of international industrial projects (including on-site).

Knowledge and Skills:

• High Proficiency in English (verbal and written), Arabic desirable but not essential
• In-depth understanding of contract management practices and procedures.
• Proficiency in technical aspects of contract administration and compliance.
• Knowledge of main database platforms, including MS Office.
