Job summary

Sener is seeking an MEP Lead (Mechanical) in Saudi Arabia to lead the design and delivery of Mechanical building services for major Rail & Metro projects. You will steer HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design, manage the mechanical team, and collaborate closely with Civil, Electrical, and BIM groups to ensure integrated solutions.

The role requires extensive rail/metro experience, leadership abilities, and fluency in English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• 15+ years engineering experience with rail/metro projects.
• 10+ years Rail & Metro experience.
• Proven leadership of mechanical design teams for Rail & Metro projects.
• HVAC design expertise with plumbing and fire protection knowledge.
• Experience designing systems for metro stations and depots.
• Strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards, SBC, and US/UK codes.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering, reviews and workshops.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC, and HAP.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management; fluent in English.

• Oversee mechanical design for rail/metro infrastructure including stations and depots.

• Lead design reviews, workshops, constructability reviews, and value engineering.
• Review contractor submissions, RFIs, and design changes.
• Provide technical leadership and resolve complex issues throughout the lifecycle.
• Mentor and develop Mechanical engineers; promote best practices.

At Sener, we are delivering some of the region's most complex and innovative Rail & Metro infrastructure projects. We are looking for an MEP Lead (Mechanical) to join our team in Saudi Arabia. In this role, you will support a major 8-year PMC rail project in Riyadh, where you'll lead the design, coordination, and technical delivery of Mechanical building services for landmark railway projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the production, coordination, and technical review of Mechanical building services design, with a primary focus on HVAC systems and supporting Plumbing and Fire Protection systems.

• Manage the Mechanical design team to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.

• Oversee the design of Mechanical systems for Rail & Metro infrastructure, including metro stations, underground stations, elevated stations, depots, and operation and maintenance facilities.

• Coordinate closely with Civil, Structural, Electrical, Architecture, Track, Systems, and BIM teams to ensure fully integrated design solutions.

• Ensure compliance with client requirements, project specifications, ASHRAE standards, the Saudi Building Code, and applicable international codes and standards.

• Lead multidisciplinary design reviews, technical workshops, constructability reviews, and value engineering initiatives.

• Review contractor design submissions, RFIs, engineering proposals, and design changes.

• Provide technical leadership and resolve complex engineering and coordination challenges throughout the design lifecycle.

• Mentor and develop Mechanical engineers while promoting technical excellence and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

• Minimum 15 years of overall engineering experience.

• Minimum 10 years of mandatory Rail & Metro experience.

• Proven experience leading the production, coordination, and review of Mechanical building services design for Rail & Metro infrastructure projects.

• Extensive experience in HVAC design, with working knowledge of Plumbing and Fire Protection systems.

• Experience designing Mechanical systems for metro stations, underground stations, elevated stations, depots, and operation and maintenance facilities.

• Strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards, the Saudi Building Code, and applicable US and British codes.

• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering coordination on complex infrastructure projects.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), and HAP (Carrier Hourly Analysis Program).

• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

• Fluent in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with international engineering consultancies.

• Familiarity with GCC railway standards and Saudi regulations.

• Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams across multiple project phases.

• Experience with BIM-enabled design coordination and digital engineering workflows.
