Job summary

Sener seeks a Drainage Lead for its major Rail & Metro project in Saudi Arabia. You will lead drainage and wet utilities design, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure compliance with Saudi codes and international standards.

Fluent English required for a multinational team. The role demands a minimum of 15 years in engineering and at least 10 years in Rail & Metro, with leadership of complex drainage schemes from concept through IFC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of overall engineering experience.
• Minimum 10 years of mandatory Rail & Metro experience.
• Proven experience leading design for drainage, sewerage and wet utilities.
• Extensive experience in stormwater drainage and wet utilities for Rail & Metro.
• Strong knowledge of AASHTO, EN, and Saudi engineering standards.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary coordination on complex projects.
• Experience delivering designs across concept to IFC stages.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Lead production, coordination and technical review of drainage and wet utilities for Rail & Metro projects.
• Manage drainage design team to ensure timely, high‑quality delivery.
• Develop and review stormwater and sewerage designs per project standards.
• Coordinate with Civil, Structures, Geotechnical, Roads, Track, Utilities, Architecture, Systems and BIM teams for integrated design.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements and Saudi regulations; apply AASHTO/EN standards.
• Lead design reviews, workshops, constructability reviews and value engineering.
• Review contractor submissions, RFIs and design changes.
• Provide technical leadership to resolve complex engineering challenges.
• Mentor and develop drainage engineers.

At Sener, we are delivering some of the region's most complex and innovative Rail & Metro infrastructure projects. We are looking for a Drainage Lead to join our team in Saudi Arabia. In this role, you will support a major 8-year PMC rail project in Riyadh, where you'll lead the production, coordination, and technical delivery of Drainage and Wet Utilities design for landmark railway projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the production, coordination, and technical review of Drainage and Wet Utilities design for Rail & Metro infrastructure projects.




• Manage the Drainage design team to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.




• Develop and review stormwater drainage, sewerage, and wet utilities designs in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards.




• Coordinate closely with Civil, Structures, Geotechnical, Roads, Track, Utilities, Architecture, Systems, and BIM teams to ensure fully integrated design solutions.




• Ensure compliance with client requirements, Saudi regulations, AASHTO standards, EN Standards, and other applicable engineering codes.




• Lead multidisciplinary design reviews, technical workshops, constructability reviews, and value engineering initiatives.




• Review contractor design submissions, RFIs, engineering proposals, and design changes.




• Provide technical leadership and resolve complex engineering and coordination challenges throughout the design lifecycle.




• Mentor and develop Drainage engineers while promoting technical excellence and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related engineering discipline.




• Minimum 15 years of overall engineering experience.




• Minimum 10 years of mandatory Rail & Metro experience.




• Proven experience leading the production, coordination, and review of detailed design for drainage, sewerage, and wet utilities infrastructure.




• Extensive experience in stormwater drainage, sewerage, and wet utilities design for Rail & Metro infrastructure projects.




• Experience in potable water design is not required; the primary focus is on drainage, sewerage, and wet utilities.




• Strong knowledge of AASHTO standards, EN Standards, Saudi Codes, and applicable engineering standards.




• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering coordination on complex infrastructure projects.




• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation.




• Experience delivering designs across concept, preliminary, detailed, and IFC design stages.




• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.




• Fluent in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with international engineering consultancies.




• Familiarity with GCC railway standards and Saudi regulations.




• Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams across multiple project phases.




• Experience with BIM-enabled design coordination and digital engineering workflows.
