Job Purpose
The Diver is responsible for performing underwater inspection, monitoring, excavation support, suction dredging assistance, debris removal, underwater surveys, equipment installation, and maintenance activities associated with beach restoration, shoreline rehabilitation, and marine dredging operations.
The Diver shall support underwater works within the intertidal, offshore and nearshore environments while ensuring the highest standards of safety, environmental protection, and operational efficiency. This role requires experience in commercial diving, underwater construction support, marine inspection, silt curtains fixing, and working in environmentally sensitive coastal areas.
Location: Shura, Shebara, Laheq, Turtle Bay Village, Nujuma & Ummahat Islands, Red Sea Global Projects Saudi Arabia.
Works Closely With: Surveyors, Suction Pump Operators, Dredging Machine Operators, Speedboat Captain, Inflatable Boat Operator, QHSE Officer, Heavy Machinery Operators and Marine Crew
Job Responsibilities
The Diver shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Underwater Operations
- Perform commercial diving activities in support of beach restoration and marine operations.
- Conduct underwater inspections of intertidal and nearshore work areas.
- Assist in underwater sand cliffing and decliffing activities.
- Support suction dredging operations by monitoring underwater intake heads and pipelines.
- Remove underwater debris, rocks, driftwood, and obstructions from designated work areas.
- Assist in underwater excavation and sediment removal activities.
- Support shoreline rehabilitation works in shallow coastal waters.
- Conduct underwater visual inspections before, during, and after dredging operations.
- Install and remove underwater markers, buoys, anchors, and mooring systems.
- Assist with underwater positioning of dredging pipelines and floating hoses.
- Recover submerged tools, equipment, and project materials.
- Carry out underwater cleaning of marine structures and equipment.
- Support underwater maintenance of pumps, suction heads, and discharge pipelines.
- Install temporary underwater protection measures where required.
Marine Survey Support
- Assist Surveyors with underwater measurements and inspections.
- Verify underwater seabed levels and profiles.
- Support hydrographic survey activities.
- Assist with underwater positioning of survey equipment.
- Install and retrieve underwater monitoring instruments.
- Inspect seabed conditions before commencement of marine operations.
- Record underwater observations and report findings.
Equipment Inspection & Maintenance
- Inspect underwater components of dredging and pumping equipment.
- Report damage, wear, corrosion, or mechanical defects.
- Assist Mechanical Technicians during underwater repairs.
- Inspect underwater anchors, chains, and mooring systems.
- Ensure diving equipment remains serviceable and properly maintained.
- Perform routine inspection of diving gear before and after each dive.
- Clean and store diving equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
Environmental Protection
- Minimize disturbance to coral reefs, seagrass beds, and marine habitats.
- Prevent damage to environmentally sensitive areas.
- Report any environmental incidents immediately.
- Support marine environmental monitoring activities.
- Ensure underwater work complies with environmental permits and project requirements.
- Avoid unnecessary sediment disturbance during diving operations.
- Participate in environmental awareness programs.
Health, Safety & Emergency Response
- Comply with all commercial diving regulations and company HSE procedures.
- Conduct pre-dive safety inspections and equipment checks.
- Participate in dive briefings and toolbox talks.
- Follow approved dive plans and risk assessments.
- Maintain continuous communication with the dive supervisor and surface support team.
- Monitor weather, tides, visibility, and underwater currents before commencing work.
- Assist in emergency rescue and recovery operations when required.
- Ensure emergency oxygen and first aid equipment are available before diving.
- Report unsafe conditions and near misses immediately.
- Participate in emergency response drills.
Operational Support
- Assist marine crews during vesselmobilization and demobilization.
- Support deployment of dredging pipelines and floating equipment.
- Assist in loading and unloading diving equipment.
- Support marine logistics activities.
- Perform other marine-related duties as assigned by the Operational Manager or Marine Supervisor.
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete daily diving logs.
- Record underwater observations and inspection findings.
- Report equipment defects and maintenance requirements.
- Submit daily work completion reports.
- Maintain diving records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.

Qualification and Experience
Mandatory
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred
- Diploma in Marine Technology, Commercial Diving, Marine Engineering, Offshore Operations, or a related discipline.
Licenses Required
Mandatory:
- Commercial Diver Certification issued by a recognized authority (e.g., IMCA, ADCI, HSE UK, DCBC, or equivalent).
- Valid Commercial Diving Medical Certificate issued by an approved Diving Medical Examiner.
- Current First Aid & CPR Certification.
- Oxygen Administration for Diving Emergencies Certification.
- Company HSE Induction.
- Permit-to-Work (PTW) Awareness.
- Manual Handling Training.
Preferred Certifications:
- IMCA Diver Competency Certification.
- ADCI Surface Supplied Diver Certification.
- Underwater Inspection Certification.
- Marine Environmental Awareness Training.

Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Commercial Diver.
- Proven experience supporting marine construction, dredging, offshore, or coastal engineering projects.
- Experience working in shallow-water and intertidal environments.
- Experience with underwater inspections and sediment removal activities.
- Experience supporting suction dredging and marine equipment installation.
- GCC or Middle East marine project experience is preferred.
- Experience working in environmentally sensitive marine areas is an advantage.
