Overview:
The FinanceCompliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that the organization adheres toall regulatory requirements related to financial reporting and internalcontrols. This role involves overseeing the development, implementation, andmaintenance of financial policies and procedures, ensuring compliance withapplicable laws, and coordinating internal audits to assess financialintegrity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financialcompliance, accounting principles, and internal control systems.
KeyResponsibilities:
- Review and monitor theorganization's financial reporting processes to ensure accurate andtimely reporting of financial statements.
- Identify and address anydiscrepancies or weaknesses in financial reporting systems and makenecessary improvements.
Internal Controls &Policies:- Develop, implement, andmaintain internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensurefinancial reporting integrity.
- Ensure that internal policiesand procedures comply with relevant regulatory requirements and industrystandards.
- Conduct regular reviews andupdates of policies and procedures to reflect any changes in financialregulations or business operations.
- Work with various departmentsto ensure compliance with financial controls and accounting practices.
Audit Coordination &Support:- Manage the internal andexternal audit processes to ensure that financial controls and processesare functioning effectively.
- Prepare and provide supportingdocumentation for audits, addressing any audit findings orrecommendations.
- Coordinate with externalauditors to ensure timely completion of audits and address any auditissues or recommendations.
Regulatory Compliance:- Monitor changes in financialregulations, accounting standards, and tax laws, and ensure theorganization’s compliance with new and updated rules.
- Collaborate with legal andother relevant departments to ensure proper reporting and compliance withlocal, state, and federal regulations.
- Manage and maintainrelationships with regulatory bodies, ensuring that all filings andreports are submitted on time.
- Identify and assess potentialfinancial risks related to non-compliance, control deficiencies, orreporting inaccuracies.
- Implement strategies tomitigate compliance risks and improve the overall control environment.
- Provide recommendations tosenior management regarding compliance risk and areas for improvement infinancial operations.
Training & Education:- Develop and deliver trainingprograms to ensure that employees understand compliance requirements andbest practices related to financial reporting and internal controls.
- Educate and advise seniormanagement on financial compliance matters and the importance ofmaintaining strong internal controls.
Reporting & Documentation:- Prepare reports for seniormanagement and the Board of Directors on compliance status, auditresults, and areas for improvement.
- Document complianceactivities, internal control processes, and audit findings, ensuring allinformation is accurate, organized, and accessible.
Ad-hoc Compliance Projects:- Lead or participate in specialcompliance projects, including implementing new systems, upgradinginternal controls, or responding to changes in regulatory environments.
- Provide compliance supportduring mergers, acquisitions, or business expansion initiatives.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance,Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- CPA, CIA (Certified InternalAuditor), or other relevant certifications preferred.
Experience:- Minimum of 5–7 years ofexperience in finance, accounting, or auditing, with at least 3 years ina compliance, internal controls, or regulatory role.
- In-depth knowledge offinancial regulations (e.g., SOX, GAAP, IFRS), auditing processes, andrisk management practices.
- Experience managing oroverseeing internal audits, financial reporting, and complianceinitiatives.
- Strong understanding ofinternal controls, financial reporting, and regulatory compliancerequirements.
- Expertise in financialsystems, ERP software, and compliance tools.
- Excellent analytical,problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Exceptional communication andinterpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex compliancematters to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work independentlyand as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail.
