Our client, a leading FMCG company in Saudi Arabia, is looking for an experienced Assistant Manager, Customs Clearance for a 6-month temporary assignment in Jeddah.
The role is responsible for managing end-to-end customs clearance, shipment coordination, documentation, broker performance, authority follow-up, warehouse coordination, and operational reporting to ensure timely and compliant import/export clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily import and export shipment activities from arrival through final clearance and goods receipt.
- Coordinate with clearing agents and ensure required shipment documents are shared in advance.
- Track shipment status, warehouse receipt, customs clearance, and delivery progress.
- Perform regular checks through FASAH and monitor shipment readiness and clearance status.
- Coordinate with SFDA, brokers, Quality, and Warehouse teams for shipments pending release or inspection.
- Support sample collection, laboratory testing, and follow-up on related payments where required.
- Manage shipment issues including damaged or rusted containers and coordinate corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain shipment, SFDA, container, transportation, PO, and delivery-plan trackers.
- Monitor in-yard containers and support timely clearance to reduce demurrage and detention.
- Follow up on missing documents and operational blockers with Finance, Tax, Warehouse, DSP, Quality, IMS, and other teams.
- Lead daily operational reviews with clearing agents and monitor broker performance.
- Track lead-time KPIs, clearance delays, demurrage, detention, and service performance.
- Support export shipments and cross-market shipment coordination.
- Coordinate with Finance on open POs, GR/IR items, broker payments, freight invoices, and clearance-related payments.
- Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with customs and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in customs clearance, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- Good knowledge of import/export procedures and customs documentation.
- Experience working with clearing agents, warehouses, and regulatory authorities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Very good Microsoft Excel skills.
- SAP experience is preferred.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Profile
Candidates with experience in FMCG, customs clearance, freight forwarding, import/export, logistics, shipping, supply chain operations, SFDA coordination, or broker management will be highly considered.
