We are looking for an Application Support Engineer to join a team within the insurance sector, supporting a critical policy and claims management platform.
This is a hybrid role based in Lisbon, requiring three days per week on-site. You will work within an application support and maintenance environment, helping ensure operational stability, effective incident resolution, and the continuous improvement of business-critical services.
The role combines technical troubleshooting, SQL-based data analysis, functional understanding, and close collaboration with business, development, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide application support for a critical claims management platform.
- Monitor services and respond to incidents, service requests, and recurring operational issues.
- Perform functional and technical analysis to support troubleshooting and root cause identification.
- Execute data analysis and validation using SQL Server.
- Support post-release validation activities and follow established deployment and change processes.
- Collaborate with business, development, and operations teams to ensure effective issue resolution and delivery of fixes.
- Produce and maintain support documentation, including procedures, FAQs, and incident logs.
- Contribute to continuous service improvement by identifying recurring patterns and proposing operational optimisations.
- Support the stability and reliability of business-critical applications within a Run/Operations environment.
- Assess the operational impact of business requirements and technical changes.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- 1–3 years of professional experience in application support or a similar role.
- Knowledge of programming concepts, including object-oriented programming.
- Strong SQL Server skills for data analysis and validation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to understand business requirements and assess their operational impact.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Proactive and autonomous approach to problem-solving.
- Willingness to learn and develop within a Run/Operations environment.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience within the insurance sector.
- Experience with insurance claims processes.
- Understanding of ITIL practices, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
- Experience with ticketing and/or monitoring tools.
- Experience working with SLAs and critical applications.
- Knowledge of insurance business processes.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Engineering or equivalent.

Salary & Benefits
- Gross annual salary: €15,000–€18,000* depending on experience and suitability for the role.
