A leading construction employer in Auckland is seeking a Leading Hand to oversee carpentry teams and site activities. The ideal candidate has a carpentry trade qualification and at least 3 years of experience in commercial construction. Responsibilities include managing subcontractors, ensuring safety and quality control, and assisting with material orders. - Lead a team of carpenters and work with a site manager to coordinate site activities, with some work on the tools.
- Manage subcontractors, run toolbox meetings, oversee site safety and quality control, and assist with ordering materials.
- There is time on the tools initially, with room to move off as you gain experience.
- Carpentry trade qualification.
- At least 3 years’ experience in commercial construction.
- Desire to develop experience on commercial projects.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to step into supervisory duties.
- High systems awareness, deadline-driven, and pride in quality.
- On-the-tools capability with a progression mindset.
