A leading company in Malaysia is seeking a Human Resource Officer to support industrial relations functions, manage employee relations matters, and ensure compliance with Malaysian labour laws. The ideal candidate should possess a Diploma/Degree in Human Resource Management and have 1–3 years of experience in HR/IR roles. Skills in communication, problem-solving, and professionalism in handling confidential matters are crucial. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and HR documentation will be advantageous.

Job description

Responsible for supporting industrial relations functions including handling employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with Malaysian labour laws, and assisting in disciplinary and grievance management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage employee relations matters including misconduct, grievances, and disputes.
  • Assist in conducting domestic inquiries (DI) and prepare related documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Employment Act 1955, IR Act 1967, Trade Unions Act 1959, and other Malaysian labour regulations.
  • Liaise with external bodies such as Jabatan Tenaga Kerja (JTK) and Industrial Court when required.
  • Prepare warning letters, show-cause letters, termination letters, and other HR-related documents.
  • Support collective bargaining and communication with unions (if applicable).
  • Maintain and update employee disciplinary records.
  • Provide advice to management on labour law, disciplinary actions, and HR policies.
  • Conduct HR investigations and fact-finding for reported cases.
  • Assist in employee engagement activities to maintain a positive workplace environment.
Job Requirements
  • Diploma/Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 1–3 years experience in HR/IR roles (fresh grads with HR background may also apply).
  • Good understanding of Malaysian labour laws.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to handle confidential matters with professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR documentation.
