Job summary

DoorDash is seeking a Manager, Tax Technology to lead tax platform projects, including new verticals, merchants, and product launches. You will align tax requirements with engineering, TAP, and Tax Product, ensuring end-to-end delivery and data traceability through Vertex and our tax engine.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of indirect tax or indirect tax technology experience.
• Experience with US sales and use tax, Canada GST/HST/PST, Australia and New Zealand GST.
• Experience implementing or configuring Vertex O Series or similar tax engine.
• Translate business and tax requirements into functional system requirements.
• Direct engagement with engineering teams on product development.
• Understanding data flow from upstream systems through tax engine to reporting.
• Project management including charters, plans, RAID logs, timelines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Google Sheets, Docs, Slides.
• Experience with Alteryx and API testing tools (Postman, SOAP UI); reading XML/JSON logs.
• Ability to leverage AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini for productivity.

Responsibilities

• Lead tax platform and business projects on the DoorDash platform, including new vertical launches and merchant/product launches.
• Gather requirements from TAP, Tax Product, and stakeholders and translate into functional tax requirements for Vertex CoE.
• Review BRDs, PRDs, and TDDs for tax-system implications and provide functional tax expertise to Tax Engineering.
• Define testing requirements and oversee unit, integration, E2E, shadow, and post-launch validations.
• Trace tax-relevant data from upstream systems through Vertex to downstream reporting and flag gaps or risks.
• Validate operational and system readiness for production releases and document post-launch lessons learned.
• Serve as a bridge between non-tax tech stakeholders and technical tax teams.
• Lead and develop offshore team with workload allocation and QA checkpoints.
