Job summary

DoorDash is seeking an experienced Manager, Tax Technology to lead tax platform projects across new verticals, merchants, and product launches. You will translate business and tax requirements into functional system specifications for the Vertex Center of Excellence and collaborate with Tax Engineering to ensure compliant, scalable tax capabilities.

You will manage cross-functional stakeholders, drive testing and validation across multiple phases, and oversee data lineage from upstream systems

Qualifications

6+ years of indirect tax or indirect tax technology experience.
Experience in US sales and use tax, Canada GST/HST/PST, Australia and New Zealand GST, in food & beverage and retail contexts.
Experience implementing or configuring Vertex O Series or similar tax engine.
Ability to translate business and tax requirements into functional system requirements and review design documents.
Direct engagement with engineering teams on product development.
Understanding tax data flow from upstream systems through a tax engine to downstream reporting.
Project management experience with project charters, plans, milestones, RAID logs, and timelines.
Proficiency with productivity tools (Microsoft Office; Google Sheets, Docs, Slides).
Experience with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor) to enhance processes.

Responsibilities

Lead tax platform and business projects on the DoorDash platform, including new verticals, merchants, and product launches.
Gather requirements from TAP, Tax Product, and stakeholders, translating them into functional tax-system requirements for the Vertex CoE.
Review BRDs, PRDs, and TDDs for tax implications and provide functional tax expertise to Engineering.
Define testing requirements and oversee unit, integration, E2E, shadow, and post-launch validations.
Trace tax-relevant data from upstream systems through Vertex to downstream reporting and flag data gaps or risks.
Validate operational and system readiness for production releases and document post-launch learnings.
Serve as a bridge between non-tax tech stakeholders and technical tax teams; coordinate across departments.
Lead and develop an offshore team with workload allocation, QA checkpoints, and knowledge transfer.
