Job summary

DoorDash is seeking an experienced Manager, Tax Technology to lead tax platform and business projects on the DoorDash platform, focusing on new verticals, merchants, and product launches with a US, Canada, Australia/NZ tax scope.

You will partner with Tax Engineering, TAP, and Product to translate business and tax requirements into functional specifications for Vertex CoE, review design documents, and drive end-to-end delivery while coaching an offshore team.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of indirect tax or indirect tax technology experience.
• Experience with US sales and use tax, Canada GST/HST/PST, and Australia and New Zealand GST.
• Experience configuring Vertex O Series or a similar tax engine.
• Ability to translate business and tax requirements into functional system specifications and review technical and functional design documents.
• Direct engagement with engineering teams on product development.
• Understanding how tax data flows from upstream systems through a tax engine to downstream reporting.
• Project management experience, including creation of project charters, project plans, milestones, RAID logs, and timelines.
• Proficiency with productivity programs (Microsoft Office; Google Sheets, Docs, and Slides).
• Experience with AI tools on a daily basis to enhance processes and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead tax platform and business projects on the DoorDash platform, including new vertical launches, business and enterprise merchant launches, and new product launches.
• Gather business and tax requirements from TAP, Tax Product, and business stakeholders, and translate them into tax-system functional requirements for the Vertex CoE.
• Review BRDs, PRDs, and TDDs for tax-system implications and provide functional tax expertise back to Tax Engineering.
• Define testing requirements and oversee test validations across unit, integration, E2E, shadow, and post-launch phases.
• Trace tax-relevant data from upstream systems through Vertex to downstream reporting, and flag gaps or risks.
• Validate operational and system readiness for production releases and document post-launch lessons learned.
• Serve as a functional bridge between non-tax tech stakeholders and the technical tax technology teams.
• Lead and develop the offshore team — allocating workload, establishing QA checkpoints, and providing structured knowledge transfer on complex processes.
