Job summary

Go Lean Health is seeking a Bilingual Medical Virtual Assistant to support an Internal Medicine practice. This remote, part-time role requires strong English and Spanish communication, especially on calls with patients, coordinating appointments, handling follow-ups, and maintaining clear, professional communication.

You will manage scheduling through phone, email, and text, verify insurance where needed, document results in the EMR, and assist with referrals and prior authorizations.

Qualifications

• Experience handling phone calls in a patient-facing or healthcare support role.
• Confident on calls for appointment coordination and follow-up communication.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks accurately.

Responsibilities

• Handle a high volume of inbound and outbound calls with patients, pharmacies, payer offices, and other healthcare contacts.
• Communicate clearly and professionally in English and Spanish.
• Provide appointment reminders, follow-up calls, rescheduling support, and general patient assistance.
• Answer routine patient questions and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Maintain a calm, patient-friendly tone, especially with elderly patients or complex situations.
• Manage new and existing patient scheduling through phone, email, and text.
• Maintain provider calendars accurately and prevent scheduling gaps, overlaps, or errors.
• Confirm appointments and manage cancellations, reschedules, and waitlist coordination.
• Conduct pre-visit outreach and communicate next steps clearly to patients.
• Ensure accurate patient demographics and call outcomes are documented in the system.
• Verify patient eligibility and benefits before appointments.
• Confirm copays, deductibles, and authorization requirements.
• Identify insurance issues early and communicate them clearly to patients and staff.
• Document verification results in the EMR and trackers.
• Escalate unresolved payer issues until resolved.
• Process referral-related tasks and initiate/track prior authorizations as needed.
• Coordinate with payer offices and internal teams to avoid delays.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and consistent documentation.
• Support inbox management, task queues, forms, uploads, and follow-up tracking.
