Your role

We are looking for a H&S Manager within our Manufacturing team in Castelgomberto, who will report to the H&S Country Leader and to the Plant Manager being part of the plant One team. This role will be the primary leader for all occupational health and safety programs at the Castelgomberto manufacturing site, ensuring the factory's operations, machinery, and personnel strictly adhere to Italian safety legislation while driving continuous improvement in safety performance and culture within an industrial environment.

What you will do
  • Legal and Regulatory Site Compliance
    • Act as the designated Health & Safety expertfor the Castelgomberto site, providing technical expertise to the Employer and line management.
    • Ensure full and specific compliance of all site activities, processes, and infrastructure with relevant national, regional, and local safety regulations (e.g., Fire Prevention, ATEX, Machinery Directive).
    • Manage all safety-related documentation, including certifications, permits, and declarations to local authorities.
    • Lead site preparations for official inspections and external audits.
  • Risk Management and Manufacturing Safety
    • Lead the identification, assessment, and monitoring of risks specific to the manufacturing environment (e.g., machinery, chemical agents, noise, vibration, fire, confined spaces, etc.).
    • Develop, update, and manage the site's mandatory Documento di Valutazione dei Rischi (DVR - Risk Assessment Document), focusing heavily on risks inherent to industrial and production processes.
    • Design and implement specific operational safety procedures and work instructions for production lines, maintenance activities, and use of complex machinery.
    • Oversee the management of DPI (Individual Protection Equipment) and EPC (Collective Protection Equipment), ensuring correct selection, provision, and usage on site.
    • Safety Culture and Operational Training
      • Develop, deliver, and track mandatory safety training programs for all site workers, supervisors, and new hires, ensuring all content is site-specific and compliant.
      • Work closely with Production and Maintenance to embed safety into daily manufacturing activities and drive a proactive safety leadership culture.
      • Lead or participate in Safety Meeting with the Employer, Competent Doctor, and RLS (Workers' Safety Representative).
      • Establish KPIs for the site and develop a monitoring/review process.
      • Arrange a system of review and principles of CI to drive improvements.
    • Incident Management and Emergency Readyness
      • Lead the immediate response, investigation, and root cause analysis of all site accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and manage official reporting.
      • Develop, implement, and coordinate the site's Emergency Plan, ensuring readiness for fire, medical, and process-related emergencies.
      • Coordinate the designation and continuous training of the site's emergency teams.
    • Contractor Safety and Process Management
      • Manage all safety aspects related to contractors performing work on the site, ensuring the compliance for all external activities.
      • Ensure that all contractors meet necessary safety qualifications and follow site-specific safety protocols before commencing work.
      • Collaborate with the Medico Competente (Competent Doctor) to coordinate the site's health surveillance program based on the risks identified.
What we are looking for
  • University Degree in Technical Prevention, or a related scientific field.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with the ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems) standard is highly desirable.
  • Additional certifications in fire prevention (CPI/D.P.R. 151/2011) or process safety (ATEX) are a strong plus.
  • 5+ years’ experience in H&S roles within manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Proven ability to manage risks related to heavy machinery, industrial processes, and chemicals.
  • Experience in developing and delivering safety training for shop‑floor employees.
  • Solid H&S background, preferably in the Food or Pharma sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of Italian H&S legislation and its practical application.
  • Hands‑on approach with experience in on‑site inspections and walk‑throughs.
  • Strong communication skills in Italian and good command of English.
  • Leadership skills to promote and sustain a strong safety culture.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally between sites in Italy.
