Summary of the Role

An Area Sales Manager will promote and sell a range of Performance Coatings products to strategic new and existing Key customers / Key Accounts in the assigned area by developing strategic partnerships and strong customer relationships. Liaising with the client market and responding to sales and technical enquiries. Implementing Jotun customer management tools, methods and guidelines, in order to achieve the budgeted local market position, sales, gross margin, DSO, and customer satisfactions targets, and to ensure that Jotun is seen as a preferred supplier of high‑quality products, solutions and services. Develop a flexible approach to pursue cross‑functional customers and projects. Maintain and develop Jotun´s company reputation within the market by applying Jotun Business Principles and Corporate Values – Loyalty, Respect, Care, Boldness.

Responsibilities
  • Drive business growth within the segment and geographical area by performing market visits, defining local focus customers and agreeing to specific customer strategies with the line manager, managing key accounts, tracking new projects and influencing the specifications to ensure targeted growth is achieved.
  • Using Jotun tools, together with the line manager establish and implement a robust framework for prioritizing and developing Key Accounts / Customers with relevant and dynamic metrics and KPIs, establishing and following up on active plans to best serve Jotun’s long‑term strategy and profitability.
  • Expand your customer base by analyzing market trends, scheduling visits to potential customers, and promptly responding to quotations requests and inquiries.
  • Identify customer needs, track market trends and competition information. Analyse market dynamics including size, share, segments, buying factors, and competitive positioning. Develop a strategic plan to position Jotun as the preferred supplier, ensuring sustainable and profitable relationships with key customers.
  • Follow up closely and guide Key Projects, including cross‑border projects and cross‑functional customers, by ensuring Jotun’s products are used, following up on progress & key decisions, ensuring that stakeholders are informed and engaged, ensuring cost efficiency and monitoring performance and results in order to achieve targeted sales & profitability budgets.
  • Maintain customer relationship by regular visits, responding to enquiries and providing advice on product selection in order to achieve sales budget.
  • Follow up and monitor customers on proper pricing and payment to reduce Days of Sales outstanding and to achieve the targeted gross margin.
  • Co‑ordinate with internal departments like: Customer Service, Marketing and Production to ensure high quality of service is provided. Share customer information, leads and opportunities with relevant internal stakeholders to strengthen Jotun’s understanding, innovations, and responses.
What We Are Looking For
  • Proven experience with yards, fabricators, and applicators.
  • Significant expertise in the Protective Coatings and Passive Fire Protection (PFP) coating business is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in growing sales, market share, and profitability.
  • Excellent self‑organization and planning skills.
  • Ability to understand and respond to customer needs and market developments.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.
  • Strong focus on customer satisfaction and effective communication.
  • Passionate team player.
  • Proficiency in Italian and English, both spoken and written.
  • Preferred location: Northeast Italy.
