Job summary
A leading construction firm is seeking a Health, Safety & Environment Manager to oversee HSE initiatives across their projects. This senior position requires strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and the ability to advise senior management effectively. The role involves developing safety systems, conducting audits, and promoting environmental best practices. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to sustainability and be ready to lead by example in creating a safe work culture. Regular site visits across the UK are required.

Responsibilities

- Liaise with enforcement authorities for site planning.
- Promote sustainability and lead by example in safety practices.
Skills
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, for an experienced Health, Safety & Environment Manager to lead and drive the HSE agenda across their construction projects and offices. This senior role reports directly to the Construction Director and is pivotal in promoting a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible culture.
- Advise on HSE legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Environmental Protection Act 1974.
- Keep senior management informed of new regulations and developments.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor HSE systems, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct site, office, and sales centre inspections, audits, and accident/incident investigations.
- Provide HSE reports to the Board and chair quarterly HSE review meetings.
- Identify training needs and deliver briefings and refresher sessions for staff and managers.
- Liaise with enforcement authorities and contribute to pre‑start site planning.
- Promote sustainability and environmental initiatives.
- Lead by example in safety practices and recommend immediate corrective actions when required.
Working hours are Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm. Regular travel to Eurofins UK sites will be required.
