The role:

As a Finance Manager (Capital Projects and Investments), you will be responsible for the co-ordination and governance of capital funding for new Capital Projects & Investments across the Council, providing high-quality technical financial advice and guidance to senior management.


You will also support the Group Finance Manager in planning the Council's future Capital Programme and will support directorates with the development of robust financial strategies and business cases, ensuring alignment with the Council's plan pillars.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with senior management teams, providing financial expertise and guidance in relation to capital finding governance and capital finance planning

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor on financial matters.

  • Support the development of robust financial strategies and business cases, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives

  • Monitor and analyse financial performance, providing timely and accurate management information, reports, and forecasts

  • Conduct financial modelling and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation

  • Identify areas of financial risk and develop mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Collaborate with the wider finance team to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations, including budget monitoring, forecasting, and month-end processes

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, and reporting tools
