12 month fixed term post (NOT A TRAINING OR MTI POST)

Senior Clinical Fellow in Neurology (ST3+)

These are posts at the level of a Specialist Registrar in Medicine. The posts also include working on the on-call Registrar rota for neurology. These will appeal to those who have completed SHO level training and are wishing to pursue a higher career in Medical Specialties.

The responsibilities of the post are identical to that of an ST3 in Medicine.

The main duties and responsibilities of this post are to

• Ensure a safe and high standard of care of all patients
• Participate in the running of the department/ward
• Provide clinical supervision of Junior doctors on medical wards &/or in the on‑call team
• Provide senior medical input for the on‑call Medical Team (especially Out of Hours) and potentially lead the cardiac arrest team
• Assist with achieving the DOH Clinical Quality Indicators

The ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team is essential to this post. You will participate in operational and research projects and the teaching of the Senior House Officers, Medical Students, Nursing staff and other Ancillary staff.

GENERAL DUTIES

• Your normal place of work will be across the Leicester Royal Infirmatry and will be confirmed in Section 1 of your contract, but you may be required to work in other locations of the Trust. In particular, flexibility is required across the three main Hospital sites (Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital, Glenfield Hospital). Excess travel reimbursement will not apply for UHL cross site working.

• Must be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust's Values and Behaviours

• Must hold at least MRCP Part 1 Qualification
• MBBS or equivalent
• Full GMC Registration with a License to Practice

• MRCP Part 1, 2 & PACES (Full Membership)
• Advanced Life Support

• NHS / UK Experience

• At least 2 years' experience of working at Neurology IMT level either in the UK or abroad

• All Foundation Competencies should be met (Completion of F2 or CREST form).
• Demonstratable ability to perform clinical procedures and make clinical decisions at the level of a ST3+ registrar. (Ie. A scitic tap s & drains, lumbar punctures, ultrasound guided lines, joint aspiration, airway management etc.)
