Job summary

A regional healthcare provider in Stockport is seeking an enthusiastic healthcare assistant to join their nursing team. Job responsibilities

The post holder will work under the direct supervision of a registered health care professional and be responsible for providing personal care for patients and perform a range of clinical duties always ensuring that actions are undertaken by the individual after appropriate training and within their sphere of competence.

Supporting patients who attend the OPD/Day Hospital unit, providing compassionate care, nutrition and hydration and supporting patients experience. Undertaking good housekeeping to ensure we provide a clean and safe department.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trust’s policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary. In addition, it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.

Person Specification
Experience (Essential)
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting as a band 2 or equivalent
  • Experience of working with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience of caring for patients.
Experience (Desirable)
  • Experience of support and supervision of junior staff
  • Experience of supporting Quality Improvement/audits/research and development activities
Education & Qualifications (Essential)
  • Completed the National Care Certificate, or must complete it within 3 months.
  • Functional skills minimum Level 2 Maths and English or GCSE equivalent or working towards.
  • Care Certificate (or demonstrate willingness to undertake)
  • Able to undertake ECG, Venepuncture and observations without supervision
Education & Qualifications (Desirable)
  • Previous experience in Acute care setting
Knowledge (Essential)
  • Awareness and understanding of importance of confidentiality, data protection
  • Knowledge of Infection Control & Safeguarding processes
