Council Tax Collection Officers (Hybrid)
Job summary
A recruitment agency is seeking Council Tax Collection Officers to work in a hybrid role in Exeter. You will collect Council Tax, manage recovery actions, and support customers in finding sustainable financial solutions. The position requires daily monitoring of cases in arrears and collaboration with the management team to improve services. This is a full-time temporary contract offering £14.13 per hour.
Qualifications
- Experience in dealing with queries related to Council Tax.
- Knowledge of statutory regulations and case law.
- Ability to assist customers in finding sustainable ways to meet their debts.
Responsibilities
- Collect Council Tax and manage recovery actions.
- Monitor cases in arrears and initiate appropriate action.
- Support management in improving service and collections.
Council Tax Collection Officers (Hybrid) needed in Exeter, £14.13ph PAYE - Reference: 5278453
Minimum 40% on site/office presence. This may vary to more onsite presence depending on the position.
- To collect Council Tax.
- To deal daily with queries received as a result of recovery action being taken on cases that have fallen into arrears.
- To monitor cases in arrears daily, and where appropriate, initiate escalation of recovery action in accordance with statutory regulations, legislation and case law.
- To promote and uphold the ‘Help me with my financial/housing problem’ system principles, including taking one view of debt, and consistently using income and expenditure detail to inform sustainable solutions.
- To protect and maximise the income.
- To support customers to find sustainable ways to meet their debts.
- To proactively assist the management team in improving services and raising collection
This is a full time role on a temporary contract basis
