Responsibilities

The Account Manager is responsible for proactively seeking out opportunities to build new business relationships across all microscopy applications in Life science research markets. This will be achieved through brand promotion and active selling strategies with the implementation of key skills gained from DBS training. Essential to this position will be an enthusiasm to drive the business in a competitive market, combined with detailed and accurate pipeline activity managed through SFDC.

This position reports to the Sales Manager UK - Lifesciences and is part of the Life science Research Team working remotely to cover South-East part of UK.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop a sales strategy in order to achieve set performance targets, maximize profit & turnover.
  • Carry out agreed sales plans & activities in order to proactively seek out new accounts & business opportunities. Evaluate product sales trends in comparison with competitive products & direct appropriate actions to increase market share. Set priorities & push product promotion to optimise sales results.
  • Prepare accurate weekly, monthly and quarterly sales forecasts.
  • Plan & carry out regular visits to existing customers to continually monitor requirements, satisfaction levels, business trends & competitor activity.
  • Ensure customer relationship management (SFDC) system is fully maintained & up to date.
  • Develop & maintain relationship within the “Leica” network (Internal, Sales, Marketing, Technical Services, Shared Services & Business Unit).
  • Represent the company at Exhibitions, Trade Association Meetings, Workshops & Seminars.
Essential requirements
  • Strong account management experience within Life Sciences, Biotech, or Pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth and exceed sales targets over time.
  • Technical proficiency in microscopy and/or imaging systems, with the ability to deliver product demonstrations.
  • Commercial insight and strategic business acumen, with the ability to influence purchasing decisions, and navigate complex sales cycles
  • Education: A degree in Life Sciences or a related discipline is preferred. Candidates with substantial sales experience in a relevant scientific industry will be equally considered.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements
  • Ability to travel – Field based travel extensively within the defined UK Territory.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record,
Other desirable experience
  • Selling microscopy or imaging systems into life science research environments.
  • Managing capital equipment sales within life science labs or core facilities.
