Job description

TeacherActive are seeking a Youth Worker to join a fantastic SEN school in Bolton, starting immediately.

This is a full‑time role working with students who present a range of complex needs, including SEMH, ASD, communication difficulties and behavioural challenges.

The Role

• Supporting young people on a 1:1 and small‑group basis
• Helping students regulate emotions, manage behaviour and engage positively in learning
• Building strong, trusting relationships using a trauma‑informed, person‑centred approach
• Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team
• Encouraging independence, social skills and confidence
• Contributing to a safe, calm and consistent learning environment

What We’re Looking For

• Experience as a Youth Worker, Support Worker, Mentor, Behaviour Support or similar
• Confidence supporting young people with complex needs
• Resilience, patience and a calm, compassionate approach
• Ability to de‑escalate challenging behaviour in a positive, nurturing way
• A genuine passion for helping vulnerable young people thrive
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
