Youth Mentor St Helens (January 2026 Start)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Youth Mentor to work in St Helens from January 2026. In this role, you will support young people who require additional guidance with their academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and personal development. Through one-to-one mentoring sessions and group-based activities, you will help students build confidence, resilience, and self-belief, empowering them to reach their full potential.

This is a part‑time position, offering up to 25 hours per week, paid at 30 per hour. Sessions take place during school hours, typically between 9am and 3pm, providing flexibility while aligning with the school day.

What We're Looking For
  • Experience in youth mentoring, pastoral support, youth work, or a similar role within education or social care
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people facing emotional, behavioural, or social challenges
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, motivating relationships
  • Empathy, patience, and a solutions‑focused approach
  • A creative and energetic style that engages young people and encourages personal growth
  • An interest or background in mental health, social work, or youth services (desirable)
  • At least one year of tuition or mentoring experience
Eligibility Requirements
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate (including the child barred list), or willingness to apply for one
  • Two professional references from child‑related roles
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
