Workshop Semi-Skilled / Skilled Technician – North West London – 6 month ongoing contract – £25.57 p/hr umbrella

About the Role

We are currently seeking a Workshop Semi-Skilled / Skilled Technician to join the Local Authority on an agency basis. This is a vital role ensuring the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of both Light Goods and Heavy Goods Vehicles in line with strict compliance and safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out maintenance and repairs on vehicles in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, O Licence requirements, and DVSA standards.
  • Apply professional technical methods and maintain workshop standards.
  • Communicate effectively with the Workshop Supervisor/Manager throughout the repair/maintenance process.
  • Complete assigned workload and submit all required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Undertake relevant training to maintain and update technical knowledge.
  • Ensure proper use of council equipment and facilities.
  • Hold or be willing to obtain licences to drive/test vehicles and equipment.
  • Observe and adhere to safe working practices, COSHH handling, and risk assessments.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, ideally within a local authority or fleet environment.
  • Strong understanding of O Licence and DVSA compliance standards.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively within a workshop setting.
  • Willingness to undertake training and professional development.
  • Knowledge of COSHH handling and H&S regulations.
  • Relevant vehicle licences (or willingness to train to obtain them).
