Our client is a leading supplier for telehandlers and roto‑telehandlers to the construction industry and they are looking for a Workshop Manager to join their Bedford Depot and take ownership of all workshop operations.

In this role, you'll report directly to the Depot Manager and lead a skilled team of Fitters and Yard Staff.

You'll ensure their equipment is maintained to the highest standards, ready for hire, and fully compliant with industry regulations.

From planning daily workloads to upholding safety and 5S standards, you'll play a vital role in delivering operational excellence.

Workshop Manager Job Overview
  • Lead, manage, and develop the workshop and yard teams.
  • Schedule, assign, and review planned maintenance activities including PDI's, LOLER inspections, and general repairs.
  • Ensure timely turnaround of equipment to meet customer demand.
  • Maintain strong workshop stock control and ordering processes.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with Depot and National Operations Managers to maximize fleet availability.

Deputise for the Depot Manager when required.

Workshop Manager Job Requirements
  • City & Guilds / NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Maintenance (or equivalent) preferably broad knowledge of plant equipment and maintenance techniques.
  • Proven experience in workshop leadership.
  • Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • IT‑literate and confident in using workshop systems.
  • A valid UK driving licence (max 3 points).
  • A proactive, resilient attitude to changing priorities.

Workshop Manager Salary & Benefits

£45,000-£50,000 salary dependant on experience.

Monday‑Friday 06:00 - 17:00.

52.5 hours per week.

Up to 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
