Job description

Location: Sittingbourne, Kent
Salary: £37,000 – £42,000 per year (depending on experience) + overtime opportunities
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

As a Workshop Engineer, you will play a key role in the dismantling, inspection, repair, and rebuild of a wide range of rotating equipment. You will work within our busy workshop environment, ensuring high-quality repairs are delivered on time, safely, and to customer specifications.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Dismantling, inspecting, and condition assessing pumps, motors, gearboxes, and other rotating plant.
  • Producing accurate strip‑down and condition reports, liaising with supervisors/managers to propose repair or refurbishment solutions.
  • Rebuilding and assembling equipment to a high standard, ensuring testing, balancing, and customer acceptance requirements are met.
  • Completing workshop documentation (rebuild records, quality plans, workshop instructions, balance/pressure test certificates).
  • Upholding the highest HSEQ standards, carrying out pre‑safety checks, and promoting a proactive safety culture.
  • Maintaining excellent housekeeping (5S standards) and contributing to continuous improvement projects.
What We’re Looking For
  • Time‑served apprenticeship or NVQ (Level 3) in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Hands‑on experience with rotating equipment (pumps, motors, gearboxes, or similar).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, safety rules, and technical manuals.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work flexibly and efficiently to achieve deadlines.
  • Team player with good communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Workshop experience in a noisy engineering environment, with strong awareness of HSE requirements.
  • Full eligibility to live and work in the UK.
