Wet Works Engineer

Location: Settle Contract – North Hertfordshire

Overview

A long-established building services provider is looking for a Wet Works Engineer to support its portfolio of residential and commercial properties. The organisation delivers mechanical, electrical and associated services for a broad client base across the public and private sectors.

Role Purpose

The successful applicant will handle a range of wet-work tasks, including work on hot water cylinders, radiators, pumps, valves and heating controls, alongside all related pipework. The role also involves responding to reports of leaks in occupied and empty homes, carrying out repairs promptly and professionally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake installation, maintenance and repair tasks on heating and plumbing systems.
  • Diagnose issues efficiently and carry out accurate fault‑finding.
  • Drain down and refill systems safely when replacing radiators or valves.
  • Follow all relevant legislation, including health and safety requirements and asbestos awareness guidelines.
  • Complete risk assessments before starting any work.
  • Maintain accurate job records using the supplied handheld device.
  • Wear the appropriate PPE and uniform while on duty.
  • Communicate any delays or issues to your supervisor in good time.
  • Carry out any reasonable additional duties as needed.
  • Participation in out-of-hours work may be required.

You should be someone who :

  • Is confident communicating with colleagues, clients and residents.
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Holds a valid CSCS card.
  • Has asbestos awareness training.
  • Is comfortable working with vulnerable individuals.
  • Understands how to carry out risk assessments.
  • Is willing to work in tight spaces or at height.
  • Lives in, or can travel to, the SG, AL, MK or WD postcode areas.
Required Qualifications / Skills
  • Recognised plumbing qualifications.
  • Gas qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • G3 Unvented certification.

Additional Details
  • Pay rate: £13.50–£16.00 per hour, depending on experience.
