Job summary

A reputable recruitment agency in the UK is seeking an experienced Welder / Sheet Metal Worker for a workshop-based role. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in MIG and TIG welding, able to work with mild steel and stainless steel, and ideally aluminium. Responsibilities include interpreting technical drawings and ensuring high-quality workmanship. You will be required to follow safety protocols and maintain equipment. Competitive pay of £16 per hour is offered for this position.

Job description

My client in the LS11 area of Leeds are looking for an experienced Welder / Sheet Metal Worker.

The successful candidate will be experienced in MIG and TIG welding of mild steel and stainless steel, with the ability to weld aluminium considered an advantage.

You will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings, preparing and welding materials to specification, and ensuring high-quality workmanship throughout.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out MIG and TIG welding on mild steel and stainless steel (aluminium experience beneficial).
  • Read and interpret engineering and technical drawings.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment safely and effectively.
  • Measure, cut, and prepare materials to required dimensions.
  • Clean and prepare workpieces to achieve strong, reliable weld joints.
  • Inspect and test completed welds to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Maintain welding tools and equipment, reporting any issues or faults.
  • Follow all health, safety, and workshop protocols.
  • Support general fabrication and assembly work as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
