Overview

Water Resources Specialist – salary GBP39,000 depending on experience. Location: Walsall/Cambridge. Travel: Some travel required across both regions. South Staffs Water is seeking a Water Resources Specialist to support the development of statutory water resource plans. The role involves working with internal teams and external stakeholders to produce technically accurate, regulator-compliant documents that contribute to effective and sustainable water resource management across the regions.

The Role
  • Support the water resources functions of the business across both regions
  • Produce statutory documents including Water Resources Management Plans, Drought Plans, and Annual Reviews
  • Ensure delivery of environmentally sustainable water resources in line with regulatory guidance
  • Take ownership of technical supporting elements for statutory plans
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure compliant and successful plan delivery
  • Work across diverse and challenging subject areas within water resource planning
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory standards and ethical practices
  • Lead technical contributions to water resource planning, including scenario modelling and sustainable abstraction strategies
  • Produce clear, regulator-compliant documentation and reports
What You ll Need
  • Strong communicator with confidence in technical and stakeholder settings
  • Self-driven and capable of working independently
  • Skilled in managing relationships with regulators and cross-functional teams
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to interpret and convey complex data
  • Proactive and adaptable in both solo and team environments

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
