Job summary

Overview

Kettering General Hospital Foundation NHS Trust is recruiting for Waste Porters to join our portering team. The successful applicants will work as part of a team that provides a caring, safe and efficient portering service to patients.

Responsibilities

• Collect and dispose of waste across all areas of the Trust.
• Drive a transit-type van and assist with lifting, pulling and pushing medium to heavy loads.
• Interact with patients and other users of the hospital; demonstrate care, courtesy, respect, confidentiality and a customer-focused approach in all duties.
• Work as part of a team to ensure a smooth, safe, and efficient portering service.

Shift and Working Pattern

Applicants will be able to work any 5 out of 7 days and may include night shifts on a rostered basis.

Qualifications and Skills

• Essential: Full UK driving licence.
• Essential: Basic English language, literacy and numeracy skills.
• Essential: Ability to work as part of a team and understand workplace health and safety; awareness of hygiene standards.
• Desirable: Previous experience in portering or a similar role.
• Desirable: Ability to drive transit vehicles.

Physical and Other Requirements

• Able to push, pull heavy loads and operate lifts where required.
• Normal colour perception.
• Willingness to work in a shift pattern, including night work.
