Overview

Mid Kent Enforcement Team Leader – an exciting opportunity to join our Revenues Collection team and provide a proactive in‑house debt recovery service for unpaid council tax, business rates and parking fines on behalf of Maidstone Borough Council and partner organisations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate and manage a small busy team of Enforcement Assistants to deliver daily debt recovery work.
  • Conduct debt recovery activities for council tax, business rates and parking fines.
  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records – Excel skills required.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies.
  • Operate within a hybrid working model with occasional site visits.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to handle sensitive conversations with calm, professional assertiveness.
  • High level Excel proficiency for processing and recording financial statistics.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and experience managing and motivating staff.
  • Preferably experience in a debt recovery, council tax, business rates or parking environment.
  • Passed the Taking Control of Goods Level 2 exam (desirable).
  • Availability to work Monday to Thursday 09:00‑17:00 and Friday 09:00‑16:30; full‑time 37 hours per week.
