Overview

We are recruiting a Warehouse Chargehand to support our distribution centre in Monkspath, Solihull. This permanent full‑time role works a 06:00–18:00 shift on a 4‑on‑4‑off cycle (including weekends). The hourly rate is £14.07.

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage warehouse resources to maximise efficiency and meet KPI targets.
• Plan and adjust staffing levels to meet daily operational requirements.
• Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring health and safety procedures are understood and practiced by all team members.
• Achieve high hygiene and housekeeping standards and enforce SOP compliance.
• Conduct performance reviews, development and succession planning for team members.
• Monitor operational reports and act on quality and performance issues.
• Induct new starters and develop multi‑skilled employees through training and coaching.
• Escalate potential issues to the Warehouse Manager as required.
• Ensure customer focus and high service levels across the department.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven record of cost savings, productivity gains, quality control and error reduction.
• Strong team building, leadership and motivational skills.
• Excellent communication skills with staff, transport and customers.
• Commitment, enthusiasm and flexibility to work various shift patterns to meet demand.
• Experience of HR activities: performance review, appraisal, disciplinary, grievance.
• Good knowledge of health and safety requirements.
• Ability to monitor inbound or outbound trunks and strictly adhere to SLAs.
• Proven experience using a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
