Job summary

A community-focused organization in Derby is seeking volunteers to engage with young people aged 16 to 25. Overview

Working with those aged 16 to 25, you will support 1625 Outreach’s work in education settings across Derby city. You’ll be engaging with and providing harm reduction advice and information to young people in relation to alcohol and drug usage.


We are looking for volunteers who will be able to travel to either Derby College campuses or various University of Derby locations to undertake their volunteering.


Volunteers make an enormous contribution to our work at Change Grow Live. Last year over 1400 volunteers donated over a quarter of a million hours of their time to our organisation.

Responsibilities


  • Engaging with young people and young adults in a way that is meaningful & impactful in a short space of time

  • Attend staff and volunteer meetings including development days and 1-1 supervisions, bringing a positive and can-do attitude.

  • To work in a safe & risk informed way, ensuring personal safety as well as the safety of colleagues and young people/young adults is at the forefront of delivery.

  • Commit to safeguarding young people & young adults, adhering to local policies (training provided).

  • To work flexibly & holistically to meet the needs of the service

  • To advocate and empower young people & young adults in making more informed choices & keeping safe



Time commitments



  • Volunteers should expect to volunteer between 4 – 8 hours per month.

  • Shifts at Derby College will typically take place mid-week, from 11am – 1pm on various days throughout the week.

  • Shifts at University of Derby locations will typically take place mid-week, from 11am – 1pm and 5 – 7 pm on various days throughout the week.



Interview and training dates



  • Interviews will take place in-person in Derby City on Tuesday 19th August 2025

  • Training will take place in-person in Derby City on Tuesday 2nd September 2025
