A sustainable agriculture tech company in Greater London is seeking a passionate Veterinary Surgeon with extensive bovine experience. This role involves working closely with R&D teams to develop wearable technology aimed at mitigating methane emissions in livestock. Responsibilities include analyzing data, conducting clinical trials, and engaging in on-farm activities. Ideal candidates should have a veterinary degree and experience in animal welfare and clinical research, with a focus on sustainable practices.
ZELP is an agricultural technology company committed to creating a sustainable future for agriculture - one that meets the needs of present and future generations, promoting human and environmental health, animal welfare, and social and economic equity.
Our first focus is to develop and scale technology that measures and mitigates methane emissions in the livestock industry. Today, 1.3 billion people rely on the industry for their livelihoods and food security. However, it is the single biggest human-driven source of methane emissions globally, emitting more than both the oil & gas industry and the coal industry.
The deployment of our technologies on a global scale has the potential to drive half the global methane reduction needed by 2030, and to transform the beef and dairy industries.
ZELP was an inaugural winner of the Terra Carta Design Lab, and has received funding and support from the European Commission, Innovate UK, The Global Methane Hub and the Gates Foundation.
We are looking for a passionate Veterinary Surgeon who is looking to do something a bit different! The ideal candidate must have had extensive bovine experience.
You will split your time between our bustling London head office and one of our research farms, the main one being in Reading. You will be part of a ground breaking research team studying bovine respiratory mechanics, behaviour and welfare.
You will be working hand-in-hand with our R&D team to develop and refine state-of-the-art wearable devices that measure and mitigate methane emissions, delivering invaluable data to farmers and researchers, helping to contribute to sustainable farming practices and a greener future.
While this role is primarily based at our base in Holloway Road in London, there is often the need to travel out of the UK with this role, and we aim to give you as much notice as possible.
