Position: Marine Vessel Manager

The below job description outlines the position of Vessel Manager. Typically, this person will be responsible for management, maintenance and repair of marine vessels.

HSB Technical's client is a very established and well-regarded business entity.

Responsibilities
  • Able to manage spare parts and deck/engine stores to assist vessel budgets.
  • Attend vessel dry docks, supervise repairs and produce surveys to determine repair specifications for dry docks and overhauls.
  • Work closely with internal and external customers on technical and operational matters.
  • Carry out inspections to ensure standards on board are maintained.
  • Supervise repairs and provide advice to contractors and ships' staff during maintenance.
  • Monitor Class and Flag State requirements and plan/supervise the required surveys, ensuring that the certification of assigned vessels is maintained in accordance with the relevant Class and Flag State requirements.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Ideally this person will come from a naval or marine background (Chief Petty Officer, Warrant Officer, Lieutenant; they would also consider a Technical Superintendent).
  • You must be able to gain Security Clearance.
  • Experience in a vessel management position is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Flexible to live within a commutable distance of the office.
  • An excellent communicator.
  • High level of technical report writing skill.
  • Experience with MoD contracts or service would be highly desirable.
  • Must be able to travel out of country.
