Job Title: Vehicle Conversion Technician

At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Vehicle Conversion Technician at our Walsall site.

The role

As a Vehicle Conversion Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will oversee the build and customisation of tailored vehicle conversions.

Day-to-day, you'll be converting both new and used vehicles—handling everything from stripping to fitting across a diverse range, including executive and light commercial models You'll also:

  • Removal and fitting of seats, panels, roof lining, door cards, interior trim, carpets, switch gear light clusters, bumpers.
  • Removal and refitting of automotive parts and components.
  • Complete minor mechanical tasks e.g.: Changing brake fluid
  • Removing and replacing vehicle exterior and interior trims
  • Stripping and refitting of entire vehicle

Please note that this position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.

This role is full time, 40 hours per week and is based on site at Walsall. Typically, you will work Monday to Friday with an early finish every Friday.

Essential experience of the Vehicle Conversion Technician:

  • Previously worked in an automotive environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve desired results
  • Ability to demonstrate high level of engineering industrial standards
