The Digital Library Assistant, a member of the Digital Library team, works with colleagues across the Library to manage and make available online the Library’s digital collections, particularly those originated from digitisation projects. They are involved in all aspects of managing digital collections, including describing them, arranging for digitisation, uploading them to our Digital Asset Management System, and making them available online, primarily on LSE Digital Library.
The main duties and responsibilities of the post focus on the description and management of the Library’s extensive and varied digital collections. The post-holder will collaborate with a range of colleagues, including their line-manager the Digital Assets Manager, as well as colleagues in other teams, to support this key strategic goal for the Library.
Candidates should have good IT skills, experience working with digital files and their metadata (e.g., publishing photos on social media or on websites, performing digitisation work, or scanning files to create PDFs), and the ability to maintain high standards in managing both physical and digital collections.
