UX / UI Designer (3–5 Years) - £40,000 - £55,000 – Stockport – Hybrid working

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who wants to accelerate their career in a team who value the individuals who work there. Our client is a well‑established software company specialising in management solutions. They’re looking for a talented UX / UI Designer (3–5 years’ experience) to join their product team. The designer will focus on building intuitive, user‑centred interfaces and will work closely with product managers, developers, and QA engineers. A strong understanding of Figma is essential; experience with vanilla JavaScript is a plus to help with prototyping and collaborating effectively with engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct user research (interviews, surveys, usability testing) to understand user needs and behaviours
  • Analyse qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions
  • Create user flows, personas, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and high‑fidelity mockups
  • Design UI components in Figma, ensuring consistency in typography, spacing, colours, and interaction
  • Develop and maintain a design system (component library, style guide, patterns)
  • Conduct usability testing and iterate designs based on feedback
  • Work closely with product, engineering, and QA teams to ensure designs are technically feasible and implemented correctly
  • Prepare design documentation and assets for hand‑off to development
  • Champion usability, accessibility, and best design practices
  • (Optional) Use vanilla JavaScript knowledge to prototype interactions or evaluate technical constraints
Skills & Qualifications
Essential
  • 3–5 years’ experience in a UX / UI design role
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end‑to‑end design process
  • Proficiency in Figma (or similar design tools)
  • Experience in user research and usability testing
  • Excellent visual design skills (typography, layout, colour theory)
  • Experience building or maintaining a design system
  • Strong communication skills; able to present and justify design decisions
  • Empathetic and user‑focused mindset
Desirable
  • Knowledge of front‑end technologies (vanilla JavaScript especially)
  • Experience in motion design or micro‑animations
  • Familiarity with analytics tools (Hotjar, Google Analytics, etc.)
  • Experience in SaaS / B2B product design
  • Understanding of accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG)
  • Experience with A / B testing
