Location: Oxford OX1 1XX, UK

Salary: £30,000, with a 6-month probationary period

Contract: Full time, Permanent, 37.5 hours per week

Hybrid working arrangement: Minimum 3 days in office per week

Are you a budding journalist with a talent for building relationships? Do you thrive on getting to the bottom of how things really work? If so, we at Global Water Intelligence (GWI) would love to receive your application.

GWI is a specialist publisher of business information with an innovative and entrepreneurial editorial culture. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and curious US Correspondent to join our team.

Working closely with our North America Editor, this is a people-first reporting role – built around conversation, relationship-building, and turning what you hear into clear, insightful analysis for our newsletters, data and intelligence platforms, and events.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Interviewing people: You’ll produce original content by drawing ideas and insight out of people. That means networking your way to the right sources, asking smart questions, building long-term relationships, and travelling to the US to report on major stories.
  • Writing stories: You will research and write news stories and features on the US water industry, expressing complex ideas concisely and accurately.
  • Data analysis: You will contribute original, timely analysis to GWI’s data and intelligence platforms, bringing a nose for what matters, persistence to pursue it, and accuracy in data handling.
  • Seeing the visual angle: You’ll spot opportunities to communicate complex issues through charts, graphics, and other visual formats, and work with colleagues to turn analysis into accessible insights.
What We're Looking For

We do not expect candidates to have experience in the water industry. We are looking for graduates with a rigorous university course of study, a strong interest in journalism, and a willingness to learn. If you have the following skills, we would like to hear from you.

  • Excellent writing skills, with an ability to explain complex topics clearly.
  • Curiosity about infrastructure, climate investment and public policy.
  • Self-motivated and organised, with the ability to manage multiple stories and deadlines.
  • Confident conducting phone interviews and persistent in chasing down answers.
  • Resilient and curious, with the determination to follow stories through.
  • Interested in learning how AI and emerging technologies can support research, analysis, and reporting.
  • Successful candidates must have the right to work in the UK from the start of employment.
What You'll Gain
  • The opportunity to become a specialist correspondent in a growing global sector.
  • Hands-on experience across news, features, data journalism, and events.
  • Mentorship from an experienced editorial team.
  • International travel and the chance to build a valuable network of industry contacts.
  • 25 days’ annual leave and enrolment in a company pension plan.
