Overview

Job Title: Undergraduate Submarines Systems Engineer

Location: Frimley (Surrey)

Length of contract: 12 months

Start date (dd Month Year): 22nd June 2026

Salary: £24,300

We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements; for this role you will be expected to attend site 3-5 days per week.

Description:

This role is within the Submarines Team, contributing to design, build, testing and commissioning activities for the Astute and Dreadnought Class submarines.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting the capture, definition, analysis and management of requirements.
  • Supporting system design, analysis, testing, optimisation and integration activities.
  • Building virtual models of systems and subsystems.
  • Using tools and software (e.g. Enterprise Architect, MATLAB, Simulink, JIRA) to support activities at different stages of a system's life cycle.
  • Supporting modelling and simulation activities.
  • Supporting system validation and verification activities (Did we build the right system, and did we build it in the right way?)
Qualifications

Qualification requirements
As a minimum, you’ll need to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Maths or other relevant STEM subjects.

  • Minimum 2.2 or predicted 2.2 in listed STEM degrees.
