Job description
About the job

Caprae Capital Partners - Undergrad Buyside Analyst (10 hrs/week - Paid Program)

Caprae Capital Partners is a private equity and acquisitions platform led by Kevin Hong - a serial founder who scaled two tech ventures to $31M ARR and $7M revenue. Today, Caprae is one of the fastest-scaling platforms in lower-middle-market M&A and ETA ecosystem, combining an international research engine, a full-stack deal sourcing arm, and a rapidly expanding tech layer.

YTD, Caprae's services divisions have completed $50M worth of transaction value and is expected to exceed $150M in Q1 & Q2 of 2026 after launching in January of 2025. We’re looking for those who are looking to take PE to the next level

Overview

The Caprae Buyside Internship is a high-intensity training ground for future dealmakers. Instead of passive research or slow-paced financial modeling, interns here learn M&A fundamentals the way practitioners actually do:

  • Liive conversations, real negotiation psychology, and rapid exposure to deal structuring.
  • Your foundation comes from outbound calls - learning how to communicate with founders, read motivation, overcome objections, and extract deal-relevant information.
  • As early as 4 weeks, you can transition into supporting real deals, understanding valuation logic, structure mechanics, and the sequence of an ETA transaction.
  • This is the only internship where students heavily focus on the human side of M&A first, because that’s where deals are won.
Core Tasks
  • Call business owners and executives daily
  • Navigate objections, gather context, and understand founder psychology
  • Learn how buyers and sellers negotiate outside of textbooks
  • Practice controlled, professional persuasion
  • Develop the ability to keep conversations structured and outcome-oriented
  • Based on the conversation support structuring deals in the lower-middle-market M&A space
  • Understanding seller motivations vs buyer constraints
  • Evaluating fit, feasibility, and deal readiness
  • Learning the mechanics of earnouts, seller financing, rollover equity, reps & warranties, etc.
  • Seeing how real deal conversations unfold and how structures adjust dynamically
  • Supporting live buyer–seller interactions
  • Helping prepare call notes, next steps, and negotiation plans
  • Observing how Caprae navigates valuation gaps and structure negotiations
  • Understanding what kills deals and what revives them
  • Seeing transaction pacing, sequencing, and the “psychological arc” of a deal
Highlights
  • 100% real-world communication and deal execution
  • Learn negotiation psychology from day one
  • Paid hourly
  • Rapid exposure to real transaction mechanics
  • Opportunities to collaborate with the deal team and research team for those who show strong KPIs after one month
  • 3 interns have been promoted to FT roles in 2025
  • Interns who make the deal team and manage deal flow can make up to 20% of our success fee (several interns have accumulated a potential bonus pool of $50K+)
Ideal Candidate
  • Strong communicators
  • Fast learners
  • Students who want responsibility early
  • Individuals who want to learn how deals REALLY happen, not academically
  • People who learn better by doing than observing
  • Those who enjoy structured, dynamic conversation over spreadsheet-heavy analysis
